Grids Glyphs Genii – A solo exhibition by Prabhu Harsoor
Curated by Satyajit Dave
Gallerie Splash presents Grids, Glyphs, Genii, a deeply considered body of work that reflects Prabhu Harsoor’s sustained engagement with geometry, memory, and the act of image-making. Drawing from Southern Indian architecture and cultural memory, Harsoor’s surfaces unfold as meditative grids, glyph-like inscriptions, and genii, spirit-forms that appear as frontal, mask-like faces.
Through rhythmic line-work, balanced symmetry, and a pared-down palette, each painting channels a quiet intensity that resonates with ritual, remembrance, and timeless stillness. Harsoor’s practice resists easy categorisation. It invokes the sacred not through depiction, but through atmosphere. His canvases are neither illustrative nor symbolic; they are memory-laden fields that invite introspection and transcendence.
Rendered through processes of layering, engraving, and tactility, these paintings read as timeworn surfaces, part mural and part relic, where systems of repetition are disrupted and materiality becomes a site for negotiating presence and absence.
